Government Polytechnic Jashpur was established in 2010 with the Central Financial Assistance to State Governments for setting up of new polytechnics in unserved & underserved districts under the scheme of sub-mission on polytechnics under coordinated action for skill development. Jashpur district lies in the north-eastern corner of the state of Chhattisgarh adjoining the border of Jharkhand and Odisha. It’s a backward district predominantly inhabited by tribals (roughly 63%).
The institute commenced its journey from the premises of RBR NES College Jashpur and then shifted to its permanent campus in 2019. The institute is located on NH 78 at village Jhargaon and is about 8 KM from Jashpur.
From a modest beginning in the Year 2010, the institute is slowly gearing up to meet the challenges of today’s fast changing technological scenario with the focus not only on imparting technical skills to the students but also on development of employability skills which mainly includes basic communication skills, basic IT skills, etiquettes and manners, Interpersonal or social skills, team building skills and employment seeking skills.
The students are encouraged and provided with opportunities to participate in the institutional and extra-curricular activities for their all-round development. The institute is fortunate enough to have dedicated faculty and staff for making them capable enough to be at par with the knowledge and skills required in the industry.
Only technical institute in the district, Government Polytechnic Jashpur offers AICTE approved three diploma courses in engineering namely, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering with an intake capacity of 30 in each course. It is affiliated to Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University Bhilai.
